Playing the long game Indigenous Ministry
2 May, 2020
The Reason:
Men and women involved or interested in ministry to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people within the Armidale Diocese, are invited to Narrabri Anglican Church where you will meet others keen to see Aboriginal people come to know Jesus. It will be a time to consider what it means to play the long game when it comes to Indigenous ministry and to think through some of the issues that need consideration. Stu Crawshaw, Jum Naden, George Ferguson, Brian Kirk, Bernard Gabbott and Rod Chiswell will share from their experience as we reflect on Indigenous ministry.
The Speakers:
Rev Stu Crawshaw
Rev Stu Crawshaw is the Anglican Minister at Soul Revival Church in Sydney. Contact with Isaac Gordon & George Ferguson over the years at the Western Rivers Convention and with other Aboriginal Communities at Fingal Bay have shaped Stu’s thinking about reaching out to Aboriginal people. He has a wealth of thinking & experience to share in the area of playing the long game, when it comes to ministering to Indigeneous people.
Rev Jum Naden
Jum, married to Pip, is a curate at St Peter’s South Tamworth. He is passionate about introducing people to Jesus and raising up indigenous leadership in Australia. Jum leads and speaks regularly at the Coledale Frontyard Church.
Rev George Ferguson
George has recently been appointed to be the minister at St Peter’s Walgett and is excited about opportunities to introduce Aboriginal people to Jesus. George worked with the Coledale Frontyard Church in Tamworth for over 5 years.
Rev Brian Kirk
Brian is the minister at St Johns Uralla, married to Sharon. They have ministered in the Armidale Diocese for over 30 years. He is passionate to see Aboriginal people come to Christ and to see Aboriginal leadership raised up in the Anglican Church of Australia.
